We are Apostolic
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42
This means we are founded on the Apostles doctrine in the New Testament. We believe that the doctrine, Gifts of the Spirit, instruction in righteousness and continuing in prayer and fasting are for us today just as it was for the churches in their day. (Acts 2:42, Jude 1:3, Matthew 28:19)
We believe that the early church is the model for us in the 21st century.
The Bible
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See 2 Timothy 3:15-17). Everything we believe and teach is based upon the Bible. We reject any extra-Biblical teachings for the purpose of doctrine.
The Oneness of God
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:” Deuteronomy 6:4
The God of the Bible is one and has no distinction of persons (No trinity). See Deuteronomy 6:4 and Isaiah 44:24. He alone created the universe and every living thing. He has revealed Himself to us as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. These three titles are not three separate persons, but three descriptions of the one indivisible God.
Jesus Christ the Son of God
“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35
Jesus Christ is the one true God manifested in flesh. Jesus is both God and man at the same time. (See Ephesians 4:4-6, Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 3:16). His name means “Jehovah has become my Salvation”. Because he was born of flesh he is called the “Son of God” (Luke 1:35). By this means, He is our Advocate with the Father (1 John 2:1), Our High Priest who maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:34), The Sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 10:10), The image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15).
The Gospel
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
The Gospel is the “Good News” regarding our salvation. It is the hope of eternal life beyond the grave for all who are in Christ Jesus. It means we no longer work for salvation as other religions such as Islam and Judaism require, but we have salvation by grace through faith, based on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, John 3:16, 1 John 2:2).
“What shall we do to be saved?” Acts 2:37
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5
The biblical response to the gospel as the early church proclaimed is: Repentance, water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receiving promised Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. (See Acts 2, 10:46, 19:3-5, 19:6, 22:16, Mark 16:17)
To obey Peter’s command in Acts 2:38 is to be born again as Jesus said in John 3.
Repentance
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
Jesus said, “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:5. Repentance means turning away from sin. There is no time in human history where sin was ok with God. God has always commanded repentance. It is no different today.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19
We have all sinned and come short of God’s glory, But if we confess to God and repent, He is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:9
Water Baptism
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16
The purpose of water baptism is remission of sins. (Acts 2:38) Jesus commanded His disciples to go into all nations and teach them to observe His commandments, and to baptize them. (Matthew 28:19) Jesus told Nicodemus, “except a man be born again of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5)
We are Buried with Christ by baptism. It identifies us with His death and burial. (Romans 6:4) likewise receiving the Holy Ghost identifies us with His resurrection. New life.
Baptism is to be done by immersion, and by calling on the Name of Jesus Christ as commanded and practiced in the Scripture. Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 4:12, 3:17.
The Holy Ghost
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Acts 19:2
The Holy Ghost is promised to everyone who believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:49, Acts 2:39)
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Christ in us. (John 14:18, 2 Corinthians 6:16). Without the Holy Ghost, we do not belong to Christ. (Romans 8:9)
The Holy Ghost is the Comforter. (John 14:18)
The Holy Ghost will raise us from the dead when Jesus returns. (Romans 8:11)
Speaking in tongues is the initial sign that a person has received the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2, 9, 10, 19)
Lifestyle
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.”1 Peter 1:15
We believe in separation from sin and worldly lusts. We are to pursue holiness. (See 2 Corinthians 6:17, Hebrews 12:14, Titus 2:12, Romans 6:12, 13:14). Holiness is knowing that we belong to God, and living accordingly. The word “conversation” in 1 Peter 1:15 means lifestyle. We should be holy in all manner of lifestyle. This includes our words, our dress, our activities, and everything we do.
We believe in charity and pursuing peace with all men. (1Corinthians 13:1-13, Hebrews 12:14).
The Future
The Bible is full of prophecies concerning the future. Ancient prophecies foretold of the days we are living in. The most anticipated prophecy is that Jesus Christ will come again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life and the unrighteous eternal death. (See Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15).
